7th Edition Simulated Combat 1 Round
Understand how the flow of combat works with 1 round of simulated combat
A - Your character
B - Gangster 1
C - Gangster 2
D - Gangster 3
Dex order: B>C>A>D
Assuming all skills are at 50%
Normal success - 50%
Hard success - 25%
Extreme success - 10%
B attacks A
A chooses to Dodge, Fight Back, or perform Maneuver
A choose dodge
B & A roll
B = 32 = normal
A = 48 = normal
Dodge
Attacker wins with higher level of success.
Draw = defender wins.
Both fail = no damage inflicted.
Since both are normal success = draw = defender A wins
B punches A straight to the face but A has narrowly dodged it
Gangster C choose to Attack, Flee, or Maneuver
He chooses to kick A in the groin
A, seeing C is raising his leg, he attempts to dodge it
Outnumbered?
Once a character has Dodged or Fought Back in a round, all subsequent attacks on them receive 1 Bonus die.
So A has already performed a dodge this round, so C's attack has +1 bonus die
So now both the attacker and defender has selected their action
Time to roll die
C has a bonus die
So I will roll 2 die representing the 10ths
Result: 7 & 2
Since this is a bonus die, we choose the smaller number
So currently C's attack roll is 20-29
If the single digit is 0-5, then this will be a hard success
If the single digit is 6-9, then this will be a normal success
So now C rolls his single digit die (bonus or penalty die are only applicable to the 10ths)
Result: 3
So the bonus die makes C's attack roll to be 23 (hard success) instead of the original 73 (fail)
Result: 15
A rolls his dodge
15 = hard success
C = 23 = hard
A = 15 = hard
Dodge
Attacker wins with higher level of success.
Draw = defender wins.
Both fail = no damage inflicted.
Since both are hard success = draw = defender A wins
A once again narrowly dodged C's kick to his groin
That would hurt like a motherfucker.
Escaping Close Combat
A character can use their action to flee melee combat on their turn in the order of combat, providing they have an escape route and are not physically restrained.
A's turn to choose to make an action
For convenience's sake, let's assume that he has been cornered by the 3 gangsters at a dead end
Attack, Flee, or Maneuver
Since A has no available escape route, he attempts a maneuver
Once again, for convenience's sake, let's assume all their body build is 10
So A thought of using one of them as human shield/hostage
So he attempts the following maneuver: he grabs C by his neck using his left hand and grabs & twist his right arm behind his back, then pull him toward in front of him as human shield
C, being a natural born gangster, his natural instinct kicks in: fight back
So now both has decided their action
Roll time
A & C are both build 10, so no penalty die
Results: A – 62 / C - 1
C = fight back = 1 = impale/critical = extreme success
A = maneuver = 62 = fail
Apparently, A is not combat-trained and he missed grabbing C. C moves too fast for him
C gave him a clean, straight punch, right in his face!
Extreme Level of Success?
(N/A if Defender is Fighting Back)
But because C is fighting back, so in his hurried attempt, he did not have sufficient time to deliver a hard punch
No Blunt = Max damage + max DB
C attack when it was his turn
C fight back when A attempts maneuver him
A - Your character
B - Gangster 1
C - Gangster 2
D - Gangster 3
Dex order: B>C>A>D
Now, gangster D, after accessing the situation, he opts to attempt a maneuver on A: bear hug A
Since A has dodged this around already, D's maneuver attack roll +1 bonus die
A is desperate, he choose to fight back by giving him an upper cut
D's 10th die x 2: 4 / 4
Now D's single digit dice
Result: 5
D's maneuver attack roll = 45 = normal
A's fight back roll = 72 = fail
A's upper cut punched air while D quickly moved to his back and successfully bear-hug A
1st round of combat over
A - Suffered a punch in the face + bear-hug by D
B - Nothing
C - Nothing
D - Nothing
Next round, B & C punched bear-hugged A in the stomach until he fainted
Firearms do not get the outnumber bonus die
